01What this policy covers

This policy explains what personal information Excellence Tutor collects, why we collect it, who can see it, how long we keep it and what you can ask us to do with it. It applies to everyone who uses the platform — guardians, students, tutors and visitors who never create an account.

We have written it in plain language on purpose. If anything here is unclear, ask the desk and we will explain it.

02Information we collect

We collect only what we need to run a verified marketplace.

• Account details: your name, mobile number, email address, role (guardian or tutor) and password (stored only as a cryptographic hash by our authentication provider).
• Tutor profile details: institution, department, degree, SSC and HSC results, subjects, class levels, preferred areas, expected salary, experience and a profile photograph.
• Verification documents: a photograph of your National ID, and a student ID card or degree certificate. These are collected from tutors only.
• Guardian requirement details: district, area, class, subjects, medium, days per week, budget and any notes you write.
• Communications: messages you send the desk, and notes our team records about a call.
• Technical data: IP address, device and browser type, and pages visited, collected to keep the platform secure and to understand which features are used.

03How we use your information

• To verify tutor identity and educational claims before publishing a profile.
• To match guardians with tutors whose subjects, class levels, location and salary expectations fit the requirement.
• To contact you about your request, your application or your account.
• To record and reconcile confirmation-charge payments.
• To investigate reports, prevent fraud and enforce our terms of service.
• To produce aggregate statistics, such as the number of live tuitions in a district. These never identify an individual.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.

04What is public, and what never is

A published tutor profile shows your name, photograph, headline, institution, department, education summary, subjects, class levels, district, preferred areas, expected salary range, rating and number of completed tuitions.

A published tuition job shows the area and district, the class, the subjects, the medium, days per week, salary range and the requirement text.

• Tutor phone numbers and email addresses are never shown publicly. Guardians reach tutors through the desk.
• Guardian phone numbers, email addresses and full street addresses are never published on the job board.
• National ID images, certificates and any other verification document are never shown to another user under any circumstances.

05Who we share information with

• With the other side of a match, and only after both sides have agreed to proceed — a guardian receives a shortlisted tutor's contact details, and a shortlisted tutor receives the guardian's.
• With our service providers, who process data on our instructions only: Google Firebase (authentication and database hosting), Cloudinary (image and document storage) and Vercel (application hosting).
• With law enforcement or a regulator, where we are legally required to do so, or where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to prevent serious harm.

Some of these providers store data outside Bangladesh. We choose providers that offer industry-standard security and contractual data-protection commitments.

06How we protect your information

• All traffic to and from the platform is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).
• Verification documents are stored in a private, access-controlled store and are viewable only by the verification team.
• Access to personal data is restricted to staff who need it to do their job, and access is logged.
• We never ask for your password, your bKash or Nagad PIN, or a one-time code. Anyone who does is not us.

07How long we keep it

• Account and profile data: for as long as your account is open, and for 12 months afterwards so that a closed account can be restored on request.
• Verification documents: until verification is complete plus 24 months, so that we can re-check a profile if a report is made against it.
• Payment records: for at least 6 years, as required for financial record-keeping.
• Support messages: 24 months.

08Your choices and rights

• Access — ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
• Correction — correct anything inaccurate, either in your dashboard or by asking the desk.
• Deletion — ask us to close your account and delete your personal data, subject to the retention periods above.
• Withdraw a profile — ask us to unpublish your tutor profile at any time; it stops appearing in search immediately.
• Opt out of marketing — every promotional message includes a way to stop receiving them. Service messages about your own requests will continue.

09Children's information

Students under 18 do not create accounts. A guardian creates the account and provides only the information needed to match a tutor — the student's class, subjects and medium. We do not knowingly collect a child's National ID, photograph or contact details, and we ask guardians not to send them.

10Cookies and similar technology

We use a small number of cookies. A session cookie keeps you signed in. A preference cookie remembers choices such as your last selected district. We may use privacy-respecting analytics to count page views in aggregate.

You can block cookies in your browser, but the sign-in flow will not work without the session cookie.

11Changes to this policy

If we change how we use personal information in a material way, we will update this page and tell account holders by email or SMS before the change takes effect.
